Sir Syed Memorial Society

It is with a sense of great happiness and profound responsibility that I and the Board of Governors introduce the Sir Syed Memorial to Pakistan and the rest of the world through the medium of the internet. Unique in its establishment and development, the Sir Syed Memorial Society is the only organization of its kind to memorialize the vision of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan by carrying on his work of providing high quality modern education in all economic, social and cultural sectors. Over 150 years ago, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan dreamt of a Muslim polity characterized by high intellect, prosperity and morality. It was his view that Muslims, through intellectual and moral growth, must take their place as equals in an international comity. To that goal, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s vision, made real through the Mohammedan Anglo Oriental College that he built (later to become the Aligarh University), played a critical role in the evolution of an intellectual class that sought and won the independence of Pakistan.

Today, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s vision remains as relevant and true as it did when first conceived by him. In a world brought closer together through democratic principles and new technologies, competition amongst nations and persons has become all the more challenging. To succeed in this modern world requires the formation of an indomitable Muslim identity characterized by unimpeachable ethics, compassionate tolerance and faultless reason.

We here at the Sir Syed Memorial Society have made it our aim to inspire and create such an identity through education In order to do so, we look to you to come and participate in our activities and partner with us to build our collective future.
